After completing the ‘A Day At The Races Tour’ in June 1977, Queen entered the studio to begin work on News Of The World in July 1977, enlisting Mike Stone as assistant producer at Sarm East and Wessex studios in London. Reacting to some of the criticisms levelled at A Day At The Races (1976) as well as to the emerging popularity of punk rock, Queen decided to scale down some of their complex arrangements in favour of a more direct ‘hard rock’ sound. This turn in direction to a minimalist sound resulted in many songs on the album being tailor-made towards live performances, with both ‘We Will Rock You’ and ‘We Are The Champions’ becoming enduring rock anthems. 
Releasing to widespread acclaim, News Of The World reached number 4 on the UK Albums Chart and number 3 on the US Billboard 200, and has since sold over 4 million copies in United States to earn 4x Platinum certification. 

The ‘News Of The World Tour’ began on 11th November 1977 and encompassed three legs over North America, Europe and the United Kingdom. New for this tour was a brand new lighting rig (named ‘The Crown’) which cost £50,000 to make and was the world’s first mobile lighting rig. The tour also featured some of Queen’s longest running shows, lasting around two hours each night. Reviews for the tour were rapturous, with particular praise for the staging and showmanship. 

The most spectacular show of the tour was undoubtedly the one performed at The Summit, in Houston, Texas, on 11th December 1977. Widely regarded as one of Queen’s finest ever performances, the band are in formidable form, powering through existing crowd-pleasers and newly-released anthems to a hugely receptive crowd.
This now-legendary night is presented here in its entirety, offering the millions of Queen fans a chance to fill in the gaps of their collections and relive the experience on this new 2CD set.
